![]() ![]() The writer uses a he-perspective, which makes the story easy to read. The construction is fairly simple, no time shifts or weird transitions. You always know what’s coming, so the events don’t see, scary at all. The atmosphere is not very well descripted. The events in this book seem believable, because they resemble ordinary situations with just a little twist. I’ve always been interested in ghosts, possessions and everything supernatural, so I find the subject of this book very interesting. If I had not heard so much about it in advance, I might have liked the book, but now it was just not living up to my expectations. When I finally read it, I was disappointed big time. I’ve always liked horror stories, so I was looking forward to reading this book. About how terrifying it was, and that I shouldn’t read it when I was alone in the house at night. Radiation therapy for cancer can weaken bone. This rare complication has occurred in some people treated with high doses of these medications for cancers, such as multiple myeloma and metastatic breast cancer. Long-term use of medications to increase bone density might contribute to developing osteonecrosis of the jaw. Having several alcoholic drinks a day for several years also can cause fatty deposits to form in blood vessels. The reason is unknown, but some experts believe that corticosteroids can increase lipid levels in the blood, reducing blood flow. Use of high-dose corticosteroids, such as prednisone, is a common cause of avascular necrosis. Injuries, such as hip dislocation or fracture, can damage nearby blood vessels and reduce blood flow to bones. Risk factors for developing avascular necrosis include: Genetics combined with overuse of alcohol, certain medications and other diseases likely play a role. Sometimes the cause of avascular necrosis not brought on by trauma isn't fully understood. Medical conditions, such as sickle cell anemia and Gaucher's disease, also can lessen blood flow to bone. With simple yet elegant prose rendered in page-turning fashion, Lahiri illustrates how Gogol sees and re-sees the world upon gaining clarity about his past. Her first novel, The Namesake, was a New York Times Notable Book, a Los Angeles Times Book Prize finalist, and selected as one of the best books of the year by USA Today and Entertainment Weekly, among other publications. As Gogol uncovers the history behind his name, we watch him tangle with family tradition, tumble through telling love affairs, and develop a fond interest in architecture - fitting as he tries to assemble his own persona. In this story, Gogol Ganguli, a child of Indian immigrants much like Lahiri herself, struggles to adopt an identity that satisfies both the expectations of his Bengali relatives in Calcutta and his peers in the United States. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri’s first novel, The Namesake, speaks to how one’s character, seemingly burdened by the past, can be redefined across time, space, and culture. ![]() 6/21/2023 0 Comments Flock kate stewart![]() ![]() Inflammatory titles like Does Anyone Else, Unpopular Opinion, or similar are not allowed.Gush and critique posts should contain the book title/author if applicable. Add on the additional pressures that being a black woman in her twenties brings and (to be blunt) it’s f**king hard! ![]() Edie didn’t know who she was, what she was worth and felt like she was consistently failing at life. One thing I definitely took away from this book is that I really do not miss my twenties. I am not averse to feeling uncomfortable when reading a book and this book did just that. It’s raw yet funny and I felt like I could feel every emotion Edie was feeling through the words. Well this book certainly slapped me in the face and caught my attention right from the beginning. He and his wife have an agreement regarding the openness of their marriage and therefore Edie is thrown into their suburban life. She meets a middle aged white man who just to happens to be married with an adopted daughter. She’s messing up her professional life and her private life. The office in which she works employs predominantly white people and she’s hanging on to the job by the skin of her teeth whilst sleeping with her co-workers. Edie is in her early twenties, struggling and lonely. ![]() ![]() ![]() This book title, Grace Goes to Washington, ISBN: 9781368024334, by Kelly DiPucchio, LeUyen Pham, published by Disney-Hyperion (September 3, 2019) is available in hardcover.
